How to Vote in the 2026 Municipal Election
Richmond Hill voters can vote online or in person by paper ballot. Please review your Voter Information Package and the City’s official election information before voting.

Your Voter Information Package
Check your mail and keep your package safe
Your Voter Information Package, also called a VIP, contains important instructions on how to cast your ballot online or in person.
The City of Richmond Hill has mailed Voter Information Packages to eligible voters whose names appeared on the Voters’ List at the end of September.
Please do not share your Voter Information Package with anyone, including any candidate or campaign.
If your household receives a VIP for someone who no longer lives at your address, do not open it. Mark the envelope “Return to Sender” and place it back in the mail.
If you did not receive a VIP, or if your information needs to be corrected, please check the City’s official voter information page for instructions.
Where to Vote
Richmond Hill voters can attend any Vote Centre to vote by paper ballot, use an online voting station, or request a change to the Voters’ List.

Who Can Vote
You must meet all four conditions:
- Canadian citizenship.
- Age 18 or older by October 26, 2026.
- Richmond Hill residency, land ownership or tenancy, or marriage to an eligible landowner or tenant.
- No legal prohibition on voting.
School-board voting has additional eligibility requirements. Please consult the City’s official guidance.
