How to Vote in Richmond Hill’s 2026 Municipal Election

Richmond Hill voters can vote online or in person by paper ballot.

Voters will elect a Mayor, up to two Regional Councillors, a local Councillor and School Board Trustees.

Online Voting

Eligible Richmond Hill voters may cast their ballot online during the voting period without attending a Vote Centre.

The City of Richmond Hill will provide the final online voting instructions and login requirements.

In-Person Voting

In-person voting will use paper ballots and vote tabulators.

You may attend any of Richmond Hill’s seven Vote Centres. At a Vote Centre, you can vote by paper ballot, use an online voting station, or request a change to the Voters’ List.

Who Can Vote

You can vote in Richmond Hill’s municipal election if you meet all of the following requirements:

• You are a Canadian citizen.
• You are at least 18 years old on or before October 26, 2026.
• You are a Richmond Hill resident, an owner or tenant of land in Richmond Hill, or the spouse of an owner or tenant of land in Richmond Hill.
• You are not prohibited from voting under any law.

Different eligibility rules may apply when voting for a School Board Trustee. Please review the City’s official voter information if you have questions about your school board designation.
